2012 Sep 23 Attention Renewing Professional Members - Pro-Rating Scale Now Available!

As USA Gymnastics announced in June, we are beginning to the process of aligning all membership expiration dates to 7.31.2013.
Upon renewal of your professional membership you will be set to expire to 7.31.13. We respect that this will cause the members to pay twice in one competitive season. Therefore, for one time only we are providing renewing professional members the opportunity to receive a pro-rated fee on their membership dues.
In order to take advantage of the pro-rate option, please fax, mail or call in your membership renewal. If faxing/mailing the forms please indicate on the form that you would like the pro-rate. Pro-rate is based on the month you are currently set to expire. You cannot receive the pro-rated fee online. Fax, Mail or Call ONLY!
Please see below for the pro-rate scale. Please use your current expiration date to determine your pro-rate. Example, if you are set to expire on 10.31.2012 your fee would be $66.68.

Notes from Alicia McCurley

Hello Vermont clubs, coaches and judges!
I am very excited to be joining Gail in the role as State Judging Director. Gail is an incredible mentor for this very important role!
I have just returned from the annual SJD meeting in Las Vegas. It was a great first experience as co-SJD and I came back with a lot of great tools and information.   Some notes I would like to pass on that would be of interest to you all:
  • It was mentioned at the meeting that Gail is the longest standing SJD in the country - since 1982. I felt very proud to be joining such an influential figure in our organization (and am very aware of just how big her shoes will be to fill!)
  • If your club is looking to travel to sunny Florida this competitive season, please consider the National Judges Cup Jan 4-6 in Daytona Beach. 11/30/12 is the deadline for the entry. You can get all the info here:
  • National Congress 2013 will be held in Hartford, CT 8/15-8/19
That's all for now. The announcement of the location and date of the Green Mountain Invitational is coming very soon!
Thanks for all you do for our state and our sport! Have a great holiday week!

Coaches and Judges:
Safety Course U101 Safety and Risk Management has been scheduled for
Friday, September 21st at Central Vermont Gymnastics Academy
on 80 Commercial Drive in Waterbury, Vt. The course will frun from 5 -9 then the test.
The Course Code: GM09212012
You must register on line at USA Gymnastics. If you have not logged in and set up your account, do so, it is not difficult. For new judges/coaches you may want to call USA Gymnastics as they may "bundle" a course and membership fee together saving some money. The number is 1-800-345-4719.
You must register a month in advance to be safe. You cannot walk into the course, you must be registered. Coaches, you must be a USA member to be on the floor at competitions and must be safety certified. If you intend to judge, you must also be safety certified. The rating is good for 4 years.
The test is open book.
So, give it a week or so to get up online, I just faxed it in today. Spread the word so the course will not be cancelled due to lack of numbers.

Safety course

Hello Coaches and Judges,
Several people have requested a Safety Course. I would like to schedule on for a Friday in mid September. However, I will try to meet as many needs as I can. There have been some changes with giving the course. USA now requires a minimum of 10 participants and they would prefer 10 to be new and the others renewals. To make this possible, we would need anyone who needs a renewal plus any new coaches or instructors on staff at the various gyms to register. I know there are three individuals interested in becoming judges. Even though you would not take a course until the summer of 2013, this is one requirement you can complete now. The Safety is good for 4 years and renewal at a "live" course free but online renewal after 4 years is $65. So, please let me know of possible dates and also if a gym is interested in hosting a Safety Course. I would need this information when requesting the course.

_____ Friday, Sept. 16th @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 then test location to be determined
_____ Friday, Sept. 23rd. 5-9 PM
_____ Friday, Sept. 30th 5-9 pm

If another day works better (not weekends, I am tied up all fall) M-F, let me know and I can put that date out there tool
So, I need feedback to schedule a course. Location and date.
Gail McGann, National Safety Instructor

A Message from the President

This Fall, USA Gymnastics is producing and promoting the 2012 Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions following the Olympic Games. Attached is a routing for the Kellogg’s Tour for your information in case you are not already aware. We encourage you to get the word out to all of the local clubs to get ready for the tour by contacting the local buildings regarding tickets. There is an early bird offer right now, which expires the end of May.
Also, we request your assistance and try to avoid scheduling state or regional competitions that conflict with this scheduling. We want all of our athlete members to celebrate the London Olympic Games, and appreciate your cooperation in this regard.
Thank you.

Steve Penny
